While the cherry blossom season will soon be over, there are still a few spots in Tokyo where you can find the best sakura afternoon tea. A perfect way to celebrate spring in style, many of these options offer cute motifs, springtime colours and delicious pairings.
Finding the Best Sakura Afternoon Tea
It’s safe to say that there are many places in Tokyo where you can find delicious afternoon tea offerings. Many of my personal favourites can be found in hotels and cafes, but it’s always worth doing a little bit of exploring.
This article is about the best sakura afternoon tea spots in Tokyo during spring 2022. In the future, I’ll be adding more seasonal creations from Japan. They will be found in either the Food & Drink, Afternoon Tea or Japan sections.
1. The Tokyo Edition, Toranomon
Available until 30th April, the Tokyo EDITION has brought a pink-hued afternoon tea offering to the table. Their charming Sakura Afternoon Tea has been created in collaboration with Mika Ninagawa, a director known for her incredible use of colour.
The sweet treats here include sakura macarons and strawberry mont blancs, fitting the colours of the season perfectly.

2. Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi
Available until 30th April, the Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi’s Sakura Afternoon Tea is a real delight. Here, sweet treats are decorated with cherry blossom leaves and all of the colours carefully balance out.
The sweet treats here include a sakura roll cake with cherries, a berry-lime mousse cake and sakura madeleines with strawberry chantilly cream.

3. Grand Hyatt Tokyo
Available until 15th April, the Grand Hyatt Tokyo’s Strawberry and Sakura Afternoon Tea is wonderful. The colours here perfectly match the atmosphere of spring, as cherry blossoms bloom and pink tones fuel the imagination.
The sweet treats here include a sakura tartlet, a sakura blanc-manger and a strawberry shortcake.

4. The Peninsula
Available until 15th April, The Peninsula’s sakura-themed afternoon tea comes complete with beautiful surrounds. Perfectly balanced, their The Peninsula Tokyo Loves Sakura celebration pairs savoury and sweet options.
The sweet treats here include a sakura yoghurt mousse, a sakura crunch baked doughnut and a strawberry and vanilla pound cake.

5. Conrad Tokyo
Available until 8th May, the Conrad Tokyo has brought a Sakura Strawberry Spring Color Afternoon Tea to life for the season. From the beautiful view overlooking Tokyo Bay to the delicate treats, this is definitely one of the best sakura afternoon tea options.
The sweet treats here bring sakura and strawberries to life.

6. Shangri-La Tokyo
Available until 30th April, the view from the 28th floor of the Shangri-La Tokyo heightens this experience. Complete with genuine cherry blossoms, this experience is a real dream.
The sweet treats here include a sakura bean paste and Mt. Fuji water agar, a cherry tart and a sakura scone.

7. Haute Couture Cafe
Available until 24th April, the Haute Couture Cafe offers the perfect backdrop to one of the best sakura afternoon tea spots in Tokyo. Here, the dining area itself is beautifully decorated with seasonal flowers.
The sweet treats here include a sakura macaroon and a sakura mochi crepe.

8. The Ritz-Carlton
Available until 30th April, The Ritz-Carlton offers an incredible Sakura Afternoon Tea at The Lobby Lounge. This amazing venue offers stunning views of the surrounding city from 200m above the ground.
The sweet treats here include a sakura and strawberry cream puff and a sakura cream, yuzu white chocolate tart.
